KEEP THE THROTTLE POSITION CONSTANT FOR LONGER PERIODS. You can lock the throttle at any preferred position, even between levels. This relieves the strain on your index finger during longer periods of continual use.
VERY COMFORTABLE TO USE. This high-quality, ergonomic carrying system offers a high level of comfort as you work. Its S-shaped shoulder straps and hip belt ensure a comfortable fit, improve weight distribution, and in this way support you during long periods of use in particular.
TRANSPORT MADE EASIER. The practical retainer lets you easily and securely attach the blower pipe directly to the blower so that you can effortlessly and easily transport it, without the blower pipe getting in the way.
FOR COMFORT WHEN WORKING IN TIGHT SPOTS AND CORNERS. The length of the blower tube can be adjusted on an infinitely variable basis, for example for use in narrow work areas or corners. The blower lance can be extended again just as easily. You can open and close the fastening of the blower tube by turning the ring.
TO QUICKLY SWITCH TO MAXIMUM BLOWING FORCE. Extra pressure on the trigger switch of your STIHL blower immediately activates maximum blowing force. This happens regardless of the pre-selected power level and without having to change your grip position.
THE RIGHT OUTPUT FOR EVERY APPLICATION. Depending on requirements, the blowing force can be flexibly set to 4 output levels including boost mode. The selected level is indicated by illuminated LEDs or directly on the electronic interface. Boost mode activates maximum leaf blower power while the trigger button is held down and without any change of hand or finger position, regardless of the preselected power level. You can optimise the battery runtime by selecting the appropriate power level.
FOR ERGONOMIC WORK. Thanks to tool-free handle position adjustment, you can easily adapt the handle on the blower tube to the user’s height, enabling ergonomic, effortless work.
SPLASHWATER PROTECTION. The IPX protection classes define the moisture protection of electrical or electronic devices. The moisture protection test is defined in different stages. IPX4 certifies protection against splashwater from all sides. Battery-powered tools with this certification are therefore designed for daily use, even in rainy conditions.
OPTIMISED POWER TOOL USE. Thanks to STIHL connected, you always have an overview of your power tool fleet and can automatically receive power tool data such as age, operating hours, and maintenance status. This allows you to determine the ideal fleet size and composition based on concrete information, as it makes clear how the power tool fleet is being used. Following initial commissioning, the Smart Connector collects the required data and transfers it to a mobile power tool or STIHL connected Box. All recorded power tool data is available for viewing and evaluation in the STIHL connected App and the STIHL connected Portal.

The STIHL BRA 280 is a battery‑powered backpack leaf blower designed for professional users who need a lighter‑weight solution with strong performance and long working times. Part of the STIHL AP System, the BRA 280 delivers a maximum blowing force of up to 26 Newtons, making it a powerful yet balanced option for demanding landscaping and maintenance tasks throughout the working day.
The BRA 280 is ideal for cleaning work in parks, meadows, paths and roads, where efficient clearing and reduced operator fatigue are essential. Its blowing force allows it to move leaves, grass cuttings and debris quickly and effectively, while the constant power output of the STIHL AP System ensures that performance remains consistent from the start of the battery charge right through to the end, without any drop in output.
With a low working weight of 7.3 kg excluding the battery, the BRA 280 offers excellent balance and comfort during prolonged use. Even when fitted with two AP batteries, it weighs no more than a comparable refuelled petrol backpack blower with similar output. The weight is evenly distributed across the operator’s back thanks to the comfortable carrying system with padded straps and hip belt, helping to reduce strain during longer working periods.
The BRA 280 can be operated with one or two STIHL AP batteries. It delivers full performance with just one battery, while using two batteries allows the blower to automatically switch to the second battery once the first is depleted, extending working time without interruption. This flexible battery setup allows users to choose the best balance of weight and runtime for the task in hand.
Blowing power can be precisely controlled via the electronic control handle, which offers four predefined output levels (levels 1–3 and boost) to suit different cleaning applications. The integrated display shows useful information such as battery charge level, making it easier to manage energy throughout the day. For longer tasks, the cruise control function helps maintain a constant output with less effort.
The BRA 280 also operates quietly, making it particularly suitable for use in inner‑city and noise‑sensitive areas, such as parks, residential zones and public spaces. A rapidly adjustable, extendable blower tube allows quick, tool‑free length adjustment for working in confined or awkward spaces, and can be securely fixed for transport and storage using the integrated metal clip.
Built for professional use in all conditions, the STIHL BRA 280 is IPX4‑certified, meaning it is splashproof and suitable for use in wet weather. Also available separately is the STIHL adjustable round nozzle - it's a 2-in-1 accessory that lets you easily switch between maximum air volume or maximum air speed when using your tool, to help remove leaves, lawn clippings and hedge trimmings. .
