X-tremely smart, X-tremely safe, X-tremely light, X-tremely comfortable : New STIHL X-FIT clothing
One of the big brands leading the way in forestry and arb PPE, STIHL has taken the industry another stride forward with its next generation STIHL X-Fit range offering even more practical protection, comfort and style. STIHL X-FIT technical clothing includes a quality working jacket and Design A Class 2 protective trouser, with new fabrics, new functional details and a striking new design making it truly smart to dress safe.
Ensuring optimum comfort and enduring practical wear, STIHL X-Fit fabrics have been developed specifically to meet forestry workers’ needs. Schoeller® 3XDRY® textile technology makes the outer fabric water, dirt and stain repellent, whilst the inside rapidly absorbs moisture and distributes it over a large area to accelerate evaporation and stimulate cooling. The fabric has good stretch properties and is very soft to the touch, promoting great flexibility and the genuine comfort so important in work wear.
Also important in work clothing, and particularly in the often tough conditions of a professional forester, X-Fit is reinforced in areas of high wear including jacket elbows and the front of the trouser from ankle to knee. The keptrotec® reinforcement also runs around the rear ankle hem, providing rub and snag resistance from the back of a boot.
The STIHL X-Fit trouser offers Class 2 chain saw protection (24 m/s) through seven layers of blocking material. The Design A trouser is tested and approved to the BS EN 381-5 standard, making it suitable for professional forestry workers and trained chain saw operators.
And recognising these users’ specialist needs, STIHL X-Fit is packed with practical design features like extra ventilation holes to improve airflow in the under-arm and thigh areas, and plentiful watertight zip pockets.
Chain saw operators often work in an ‘active’ position, so X-Fit design ensures a comfortable ‘X-Fit’. The trouser features integrated removable braces, hooks to clip trouser bottoms to boots, plus pull cords at the ankle to prevent dirt or woodchips getting in. The jacket’s extended rear panel protects the lower back from drafts, and velcro fastening at the cuffs keeps dirt and woodchips out.
STIHL has led the way in recognising that outdoor professionals not only want to feel protected and comfortable when they work, they also want to look good, so the X-Fit design is not only practical but stylish too. Striking orange colour blocks plus reflective strips and logos promote wearer’s visibility, and combined with the modern grey/black colour-way make it truly smart to dress safe.
